I haven’t had loads of Baltic Porters in my drinking life. Like most of you, my first taste of the style came from a homebrewer’s version (via Beeriac/Mike Heniff at a long ago Foam Rangers meeting, I think), and my commercial experience is with Baltika 6. The new Divine Reserve 17 offering from Saint Arnold squares

Well, 2016 certainly was interesting, wasn’t it? Jose started the year off by telling you to stop aging beer, we hosted a Houston Beer themed March Madness bracket and a bot almost ruined it, Lone Pint (FINALLY) started dating bottles of Yellow Rose, Saint Arnold turned 22, Whole Foods sold beer for $2, and Karbach

Houston Beer Guide managed to get an exclusive invite to the retirement of one of Houston’s greats, a beer that may be departing for now, but will live forever in our hearts. Here’s a transcript of the event: <Lawnmower taps on a pint glass> “Can I get everyone’s attention for just a few moments? Thank

I don’t eat a lot of fruit. When drinking an IPA I couldn’t tell you the difference between mango or passion fruit, as many reviews do. “It tastes fruity” or “that has a lot of citrus” may be about as far as I get, so don’t look for my review of the next Brash IPA any

Let’s dive right into this: Untapped Houston is back at Discovery Green on Saturday. I’m going, and you should, too. This will be the festival’s 4th year in Houston, and it’s gotten better every year. It’s very well run, the location is awesome, and the weather should be great. They’ve got you covered on food

Last year, after my annual trip to Denver, I wrote a glowing write-up of Houston’s successes in bringing home hardware from the Great American Beer Fest competition. As you may recall, for the third year straight, Houston breweries garnered two medals, as just part of a strong Texas showing. Were such successes to continue for

Sponsored by Saint Arnold, Real Ale, Freetail, Deep Ellum, and Texas Beer Bus, and run by the Texas Craft Brewers Guild, the third annual Houston Firkin Fest on June 18 represented the creative depth of some of Texas’s best breweries. After being moved from its original date in April due to a threat of severe

Saint Arnold really knows how to throw a birthday party! In what’s become an annual event, the brewery went deep into their cellar to pull out some rarities and barrel aged variants for the ‘Rare Cellar’ tasting. There was a definite buzz of excitement in the stairs as the crowd waited for the taps to

Known to its faithful followers as Houston’s oldest craft brewery, Saint Arnold Brewing Company will celebrate its 22nd anniversary on June 11. The festivities will feature live music from Wild Moccasins and Khris Royal. I wasn't aware they had signed with a distributor, and I'm not aware of any Houston area beer distributors going under. It's possible that they signed with a wine distributor (since they own a winery as well), but it's also possible that Running Walker decided to stop self-distributing their beer to that Total Wine. Where to find it kind of depends what part of town your in. I'd check local grocery stores, Spec's, and any bottle shops you may have in your area.
