As some of you may have heard, Whole Foods Market Brewing Company (WFBC) is going to begin canning soon, and fortunately for you I have all the details. They will be using a mobile canning line from Austin. Unfortunately, the original date for canning was February 19th, so has been delayed due to the Arctic Vortex and everything it caused in Texas. Their new canning date is March 1. That means you should be able to get cans of DL Double at the Post Oak location starting on that Tuesday, March 2nd. Cans should start appearing around town either that Friday, or early the next week, with statewide distribution towards the end of the month.

For this first run, they are going to stick to one of their mainstays, DL Double, a hazy double IPA that has always been one of their flagships and top sellers. For the future, they also have label approval for Post Oak Pale Ale and Wholistic Hazy IPA, a 6.6% IPA that features a rotating hop blend. While Post Oak is one of the first beers created by WFBC, Wholistic Hazy is a new recipe from their new brewmaster, Chris Shelton. They are looking to release these in cans in the future once they figure out how often they will need to be canning and how the canning fits in their brew schedule. If you have seen their brewery, you know it is a tiny space that takes much planning to utilize effectively.

The format is going to be the growingly popular 4-pack of 16ounce cans, with the DL running $16.99 a 4-pack. Also take note of their updated logo and branding, so you make sure you don’t miss it on the shelf. Keep tuned for next week when I do a review of the DL fresh from a can!

Cheers, and Happy Drinking!
